YouTube playlist download missing videos? Check where the count changes

Compare playlist entries, parsed items, selected tasks and completed files to find why a YouTube playlist download is incomplete without restarting everything.

When a playlist download contains fewer videos than expected, compare four counts: entries on YouTube, items the downloader found, tasks you selected, and completed video files. The first point where the count drops tells you what to investigate. Restarting the entire playlist before checking those stages can create duplicates without fixing the missing items.

Use this checklist for videos you own or have permission to save. A playlist collects links; it does not establish that every linked video is available to your account or downloadable by your software.

Make a small record before retrying

Write down the playlist URL, the time you checked it, and the four counts. For a long list, record the titles and individual URLs of a few missing entries. Count completed video files separately from subtitles, thumbnails and temporary files.

Here is a made-up example, not a WarpFetch test:

Stage Count What to inspect next
Entries shown in the source playlist 12 Compare them with the parsed list
Items found by the downloader 10 Identify the two entries that never appeared
Items selected for this attempt 6 Check selection and any displayed limits
Completed video files 5 Inspect the one selected task that did not finish

The difference between 12 and 5 is seven, but that does not mean seven transfers failed. In this example, only one selected task lacks a completed output. The earlier differences require different checks.

If videos never appear in the parsed list

First confirm that you supplied a playlist link rather than an individual video link. YouTube's sharing instructions distinguish those links and explain that private videos inside a shared playlist require separate viewing access.

Open a missing item's own page in YouTube. Record whether it plays, asks for access, or displays an unavailable message. Compare the account context too: being signed in to your regular browser does not establish that a downloader has the same access. YouTube documents public, unlisted and private playlist settings; a visible list alone is not proof that every item can be retrieved.

For a permitted video that plays normally, try its individual link as a diagnostic step. If that item is found separately but absent from the playlist result, record both outcomes for support. This narrows the problem to how the playlist is being handled; it does not prove a particular software bug.

If items appear but are not selected

Inspect the selection screen before starting another batch. Look for unchecked entries, range or filter settings, and explicit messages about the current plan. An item count in a preview is not a promise that the same number of tasks will be submitted.

For WarpFetch, our September 8, 2026 check of version 1.2.1.0 recorded a Free playlist item cap of three and a separate daily playlist allowance. These were entitlement observations, not a successful playlist-download test. Check the limits shown in your current app; software and allowances can change. A limit message and an unavailable source video are separate problems, so upgrading should not be treated as a universal repair.

If selected tasks do not produce completed files

Review each task's status and destination. A failed transfer, a paused task and a file saved to a different folder should not all be labelled “missing.” Keep successful files and note the exact error before retrying only the affected items, where your app supports that action.

If a task rejects the selected quality, inspect the formats actually available for that item. Do not assume every video in the list offers the same resolution. The missing 4K option checklist covers that separate question.

Finally, check a completed file in the player you intend to use. A file existing in a folder does not, on its own, establish that the whole video and its audio are intact.

Send support a reproducible comparison

Include the app and operating-system versions, playlist URL, a missing item's URL, the four counts, the displayed error, and whether the individual item worked separately. If the list is private, describe that condition without posting its link publicly. Do not attach account cookies or passwords.

For your own uploads, YouTube Studio and Google Takeout provide a separate recovery workflow worth checking before repeatedly rebuilding a playlist download.
