Video quality
No 4K download option for a YouTube video? Check these first
Trace a missing 4K download option through the source video, processing status and download settings before starting another transfer.
If a downloader offers only 1080p, first check the exact video's available quality on YouTube, then inspect the downloader's format choices and task settings. “4K” in a video's title or a downloader's name is not evidence that a particular task will produce a 4K file.
This is a diagnostic guide for permitted downloads. It does not claim that WarpFetch successfully downloaded the YouTube formats discussed here, or that a setting change can bypass access restrictions.
1. Check the source rather than the title
Open the same video URL on YouTube and inspect Settings → Quality. Note the highest listed option, not only the quality currently selected by Auto. According to YouTube's quality guidance, viewing conditions, the original upload and browser support can affect available or selected quality.
If you cannot see the expected option, try a current supported browser or device before concluding that the source lacks it. Record what you find. Seeing 2160p in one player helps narrow the investigation, but does not prove a separate downloader can retrieve it.
2. Consider whether the upload is still processing
For a newly uploaded video, high-resolution processing may still be underway. YouTube explains that lower-quality versions can appear first. If you own the upload, inspect its processing status; otherwise, revisit the watch page later. There is no single waiting time that fits every upload.
Avoid testing an entire playlist while investigating one newly uploaded video. Use one known URL so you can compare the same source before and after processing or a settings change.
3. Separate a preset from the available formats
Look for three different pieces of information in your downloader: the quality you requested, the formats actually offered for this URL, and the settings attached to the queued task. A saved preference is not proof that the requested format was available.
If the app exposes format filters, inspect them before starting another download. Compare the resolution and codec information it actually reports, rather than assuming a file extension identifies the quality. MDN's codec guide explains how encoding and quality involve more than a resolution label.
For WarpFetch specifically, the product review dated September 8, 2026 found a 720p limit on Free playlist presets. That finding should not be applied to every single-video task. Check whether you are inspecting a playlist preset or an individual video, and review the current plan information. Buying a plan is not a way to create a format the source does not provide.
4. Use the result to choose the next action
- The source does not show the expected quality: investigate source availability, browser support or recent-upload processing first.
- The source shows it, but the app does not list it: record the URL, app version and formats offered. Check the app's current support information before retrying.
- The app lists it, but your task requests a lower quality: correct that task's settings before downloading again.
- The completed file reports a lower resolution than the chosen format: keep the file and task details for support. Do not discard the evidence by repeatedly overwriting it.
Change one condition at a time. For example, if you change the URL, quality preset and output format together, a successful retry will not tell you which change mattered. A short written record is more useful than a series of unlabelled retries.
5. Verify the downloaded file
Inspect the completed video's media information in a player that reports its frame dimensions. For a conventional landscape UHD video, 3840 × 2160 is a useful reference; rotated or differently shaped video needs to be interpreted in its own aspect ratio. Do not rely on the filename alone.
Then play a representative section and check the sound. Resolution is only one property: compression and the source image also affect visible detail. A larger file is not enough to prove that it is the better copy. If storage is your concern, use the size estimation guide rather than choosing solely by the “4K” label.
If the format list and output still disagree, send support the public source URL, app version, selected format and actual output details. Remove cookies, access tokens and private account information from anything you share. That evidence gives the issue a reproducible starting point without assuming which component failed.
